Compress an image to 500 KB
Create a web-friendly copy of a product photograph, article image or detailed illustration within a 500,000-byte upload budget. This target provides more room for texture and gradients than smaller form limits, but it is still a maximum rather than a promised exact output size.
Preparing your workspace…
Prepare the right image.
Use the preview to inspect the features that matter at the image’s intended display size: product labels, fabric texture, hair and smooth backgrounds. Keep the original as an editing master. Select the original file format unless the receiving system accepts another encoding and you deliberately choose to convert it. A smaller result is useful only when its visible detail remains suitable for your purpose.
Know the limits.
Large images with complex detail can remain above 500 KB at the quality floor. PNG files may retain transparency yet stay larger because browser PNG encoding does not expose a lossy quality slider. The tool reports the measured result and does not resize pixels to claim success. If the file already fits and its format is unchanged, it is returned without re-encoding.
Process privately.
Selected files stay on your device. Use the preview to compare the result before downloading. Keep an original copy for later edits and verify the receiving website’s format and dimension requirements separately.
Common questions
Can every image reach this target?
No. Detailed or high-resolution files may exceed the selected target at the quality floor. Raise the target or resize a copy first; the tool does not silently change dimensions or formats.
