Compress an image to 20 KB
Prepare a very small image for an upload form that explicitly limits each file to 20,000 bytes. Check the destination’s required dimensions and accepted format before choosing your source; a full-resolution photograph is unlikely to fit this budget unchanged.
Preparing your workspace…
Prepare the right image.
Start with a copy of the image at the dimensions the form actually displays. Remove unnecessary borders in your image editor or use the resizer first. A tightly framed portrait can spend more of its byte budget on the face than a wide scene with fine background detail. Keep the original for printing and later edits.
Know the limits.
The compressor preserves dimensions and searches only within its quality limits. If the output remains above 20 KB, the warning means the form’s limit has not been met. Increase the budget if allowed, or resize a separate copy. Do not convert a transparent graphic to JPEG unless you accept the selected background replacing its transparent pixels.
Process privately.
Selected files stay on your device. Use the preview to compare the result before downloading. Keep an original copy for later edits and verify the receiving website’s format and dimension requirements separately.
Common questions
Can every image reach this target?
No. Detailed or high-resolution files may exceed the selected target at the quality floor. Raise the target or resize a copy first; the tool does not silently change dimensions or formats.
