Keep transparent artwork legible
PNG artwork can have transparency, which the generated PNG-backed ICO entries can retain where the selected canvas fit permits. Transparent-padding behavior and background should be reviewed in the preview. Fine details often disappear at 16px, so prefer a simple mark.
Generate the intended file
Upload the requested static input, choose Contain or Cover and generate the icon. The downloaded favicon.ico has a real ICO directory and three embedded PNG sizes. Use the full package option only when you also want the separate PNG assets and example manifest.
Integrate and verify

Is the ICO only a renamed PNG?
No. It writes an ICO header and directory with real 16, 32 and 48px PNG payloads.
Will every browser update the icon immediately?
No. Browser and site caches can retain older icons. Verify the deployed path and caching separately.
