Photo Metadata Checker
Check which supported metadata containers exist in a local photo before sharing it. This is a container-level inspection, with an additional top-level EXIF GPS-pointer check, rather than a complete display of every EXIF tag.
Preparing your workspace…
Read what the inspection actually reports
JPEG APP segments and comments, selected PNG EXIF/text/profile/time chunks, and WebP EXIF/XMP/ICC chunks are listed with their payload sizes. The tool does not decompress text or display camera models, addresses, capture times or GPS coordinates.
Interpret a GPS pointer carefully
A detected GPS directory pointer means an EXIF structure refers to location tags. It does not prove that valid coordinates exist. Absence of this pointer does not prove location data is absent from XMP, comments or image content.
Inspect first, remove separately
Choose a static JPEG, PNG or WebP image up to 25 MiB / ten megapixels. Review the detected containers and optionally download the JSON report. Switch to Remove metadata to re-encode a cleaned JPEG or PNG and verify the targeted output containers. Neither workflow anonymizes faces, signs or other visible information.
Common questions
Is an empty report a privacy guarantee?
No. Only the documented containers and GPS pointer are checked. Review both image content and the destination's privacy settings.
Is the photo uploaded?
No. Inspection reads the selected bytes in your browser, and the optional JSON report is downloaded locally.
