Analogous Color Palette Generator

Generate three related colors from a base hue and its neighbors at minus and plus 30 degrees on the HSL wheel. Use this workflow when you want adjacent hues rather than a high-contrast complementary pair.

Preparing your workspace…

Understand the three swatches

The center swatch is the selected base color. The first and last are its hue neighbors; saturation and lightness remain unchanged. This makes the calculation repeatable, although equal HSL lightness does not imply equal perceived brightness.

Apply a small coherent set

Try the center color for your primary surface and neighboring hues for secondary panels or illustration details. Copy individual HEX values or download CSS variables and a JSON record. Use separate neutral text colors when the three swatches do not provide sufficient contrast.

Neighboring hue is not a complete brand system

The palette has no automatic typography, readability or cultural suitability score. Gray inputs can produce identical swatches because they have zero saturation. Compare the result against real images, interface states and contrast needs before adopting it.

Common questions

Can I extract a palette from a photo instead?

Yes. Switch to Extract colors from an image in the same tool; that workflow samples image pixels rather than calculating hue neighbors.

Can I change the neighbor angle?

This workflow uses fixed 30-degree neighbors. It does not claim to provide custom-angle or perceptual color-space harmonies.
